Babylon IDA Helps Local Cabinet Maker Expand its Footprint by adding second location in Babylon

The Babylon Industrial Development Agency (IDA) recently completed a transaction with Lakeville Kitchen and Bath, a company supplying Long Islanders cabinetry for budgets of all sizes, to aid its expansion into two locations within the Town of Babylon. Lakeville Industries will be relocating from its long-standing Lindenhurst location to sister sites in the hamlets of Farmingdale and West Babylon. In recent months, the Babylon IDA has worked closely with Lakeville Kitchen and Bath to finalize an assistance program that will enable them to make a $5.6 million investment that creates four new jobs at an average salary of $55,000.

“Lakeville Kitchen and Bath has been a fixture of the town for more than six decades, providing jobs and financial security to its local employees and quality products to is loyal customers,” said Tom Dolan, Chief Executive Officer of the Babylon IDA. “Through the IDA’s continued focus of keeping thriving businesses, promoting sustainable development and enhancing job growth in the town—we recognized a greater opportunity for a mutually beneficial partnership for Lakeville Kitchen and Bath and Town residents.”

During the 12-year agreement, Lakeville Kitchen and Bath will receive property and sales tax exemptions, but will still pay nearly $80,000 per year combined for the two locations. As a result of the transaction, Lakeville Kitchen and Bath will grow in size by four employees, from 31 to 35, over the next two years as part of the company’s workforce in its warehouse, receiving and shipping facilities, showrooms and corporate office.

“As we began discussing our planned relocation and expansion, it was our utmost priority to remain within the Town of Babylon due to our deeply rooted connection to not only our incredible customer-base that resides in the Town but also our devoted employees that we were determined to keep as part of our Lakeville family,” said Richard Sirlin, President of Lakeville Kitchen and Bath. “The Babylon IDA worked closely with us throughout the entirety of this process, providing the assistance needed to ensure that our goals could be reached.”
