Babylon, NY (June 28, 2018) – The Babylon Industrial Development Agency (IDA) recently awarded its annual scholarships to 11 graduating high school students who are looking to further their technical education. The students, who all live in the Town of Babylon, were awarded with a $500 scholarship to help cover education expenses as they continue their academic careers. Members of the Babylon IDA Board as well as Town of Babylon Councilwoman Jackie Gordon, Town Clerk Gerry Compitello and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma attended the ceremony and congratulated the students on their achievement.

“It is an honor to give back to these hardworking and dedicated students as they pursue the next chapter of their education and prepare for their desired careers,” said Babylon IDA’s Acting CEO Tom Dolan. “These students are the future of our workforce and by investing in them now we can help to ensure we have qualified individuals who will be responsible for driving our economy forward.”

The Babylon IDA scholarship program reinforces the IDA’s commitment to providing promising individuals within the Town of Babylon opportunities for continued growth and success in their professional development. The program is also meant to recognize the students’ accomplishments and help them realize their potential in making a significant contribution to their local business community.
